Week 18 - Pictures/Weekend Fun

In case you were wondering what Tim looks like at 18 weeks.....

And me...

Tim and I had a great weekend. I woke up early and went to workout. We than met up with our really good friends Pam and Michael at the lake. Our original plan was for them to go wakeboarding but the water was way too cold. So we just ended up eating on the lake and then headed over to a cove to do some sunbathing and relaxing. We then all want home and showered and met up again to go out to dinner. I hadn't seen them in awhile so it was such a treat to see them. Sunday, Sabrina and I went to a spin class and then went to go get a pedicure. After I made Tim a yummy lunch and we then headed outside to do some yard work. I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to last outside due to it being so hot, but luckily it was pretty cool. I ended up washing and scrubbing the swing set/playground, patio furniture, Tim's grill, and our wooden cooler. Cole and Elie also got a good bath as well. We are slowly trying to take charge back of our yard. It is alittle out of control so if we do alittle bit each time hopefully it won't be so unbearable. The front yard is looking awesome expect the flower beds need deweeding and planting. The backyard is another story. It needs alot of work.

Workouts - Week 18

Here are my workouts this week:

Monday: Crossfit Bootcamp
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: 3 mile run/bootcamp mini workout
Thursday: Crossfit Bootcamp
Friday: Off
Saturday: Body Pump at Gold's
Sunday: Spin Class with Sabrina at LT

I had also wanted to go for another little run but Tim told me not to push myself too much. I was alittle more tired this week than usually. I think it was mainly because of tax season. But the weather is also getting warmer and it has been really humid in the mornings as well. The humidity is not my friend these days. So if I don't get my workout done in the morning, it usually means I have to hit the gym to get my workouts in, which usually means I get too lazy to leave the house after I get home from work.

Trying to stay in shape and eat healthier...

I have recently started a renew personal goal to stay in shape and eating healthier. Let me honest with you, the 1st trimester was horrible. I could barely make it through the day with out having to take a nap and then when I got home, I barely could eat before I went up to sleep. Than I slept straight through the night until my alarm went off the next day. Needless to say, there was only working out about 2 times a week if that. And that was only because my good friend Sabrina wanted to go for a swim at the gym. Since I have hit week 12-14, I have been feeling much like my old self. I slowly introduced myself back into boot camp and taking Cole (our lab) walking/running. I am now proud to say that I go to boot camp 2 times a week and run about 2 times a week as well. I also hit up the gym and do some easy workouts while Tim is at the gym. It may sound like alot but it really isn't. I do modified versions of our workouts at boot camp and keep it less intense as the rest of the group. I do less reps and lighter weight. I have also cut my running way back. When I was in training for my marathon, I would run about 50-60 miles a week. Now I am happy just to get 8-10 per week. I usually do about 3-4 miles on one day and than my "long" run on the weekend. My "long" run is now only 5-6 miles running/walking. And just in case your are wondering, YES I did ask my doctor is all of this was okay and he approves. All I have to do is keep my heart rate below 140 and be sure to drink and eat plenty of water and carbs for me and the baby. I keep my intensity down and make sure I can talk/sing throughout the duration of the workout.

As far as eating goes, when I was in training mode I ate really well. But then it just went downhill from there. I started to eat anything and everything in sight without caring what was in it or if it was good for me and the baby. I have not started to eat healthy again. Tim and I decided cook more meals at home as opposed to eating out all the time. I have started to choosing more wisely what I eat at every single meal. I started cutting out some of my carbs and add a salad to every meal I can. I try to snack often to make sure there is always something in my tummy as well. So far, I can see and feel a difference in my workouts and my life. I am feeling much better and healthier. I plan on continue working out till my doctor or my body tells me I can't anymore. I hope to continue eating as healthy as I can for the duration of this pregnancy.

1st purchase....

So besides a pack of diapers we bought last week, we have finally made our 1st purchase for Baby Woodruff. It is an activity jumper. I saw this online and had to have it. I did show some restraint and showed Tim first before I purchased it. Luckily he loved it as much as I did. I thought it would be great to put in the house somewhere or even take it outside to keep Tim company while he was doing yard work or stuff in the garage. I also found a $10 off coupon online that I used.

16 weeks

We had our 16 week check up today. Most of the usual, urine sample, weight, measurements of my growing tummy, questions/concerns, results of my recents blood tests. Everything was normal, which is always such a blessing to hear. We also found out the sex of the baby..... it's a boy!! Tim and I bet our house on it that it was a girl. But we are thrilled to find out it is a boy. The Woodruff name will now be carried on. Of course nothing is 100% until the baby comes out. We will have a better idea come the 20 week ultrasound where they look at everything in detail for about 45 minutes. Tim can't seem to whip the grin off his face knowing he is going to have boy. He is already planning hunting/fishing trips, football/baseball games and etc. I now started to look at things for the nursery just to get ideas.

Lots and lots of Bruising.. - 14 weeks,4 days

So lately I have noticed that I have had alot of bruising. In particular a huge one that takes up most of my calf on the left leg. There are several small ones all over my body that come and go. I have bruised before but not to this extent. I was debating on whether to wait till my next appointment or call the doctor. But more and more people starting noticing it and it seemed to have gotten bigger and more tender. So I went ahead and just called. They wanted me to come in right away to check it out.

I saw the registered nurse and she did say that she have never seen on that extent that I had it and it didn't look like it was a blood clot or anything serious. She suggest we run some blood tests to confirm and she wanted the doctor to come in and see it as well. He did and also didn't seem concerned but did order additional blood tests just to rule out anything that it possible could be.

I ended up giving about 6 tubes of blood. It didn't really affect me right away, but by the end of the day, I was so tired and could hardly think straight. I was supposed to go to boot camp, but decided to skip it and take a nap instead. Good thing I did, because I felt horrible the rest of the night. We went out to eat and I could barely make it through dinner before I had to go home and lay down. I just stayed in bed the rest of the night and snacked on some crackers since I couldn't eat dinner. I am feeling much much better today.

13 Weeks, 3 days

This was supposed to be our 12 week appointment. Nothing really to report here. Just the usually stuff, blood pressure, urine sample, questions/concerns, and listen to the baby. We were able to listen to our baby again and that is music to my ears. I could listen to it all day every day. We also got the results for our genetic screening. Everything came out normal. We also talked about what is safe and not safe during my 2nd Trimester. I also asked about drinking caffeine and she said it was okay as long as it is only 8oz a day. I only allow myself 1 coke/tea a week. I may have a couple of sips of someones drink but try to stay away from it. I also asked about lunch meat because I have been craving a turkey sandwich and Nurse Julie gave me a brand that I could buy that was safe. We also found out that we could find out the sex of the baby at our next 16 week appointment assuming the baby cooperates with us. I still can't believe that the 2nd trimester is already here. It is now starting to feel real.
